Artist Statement

Art, to me, means feeling free from having to function. Most of us enjoy the feeling of having a physical experience and thereby feeling alive, e. g. when being at the seaside, swimming, feeling the wind blowing through our hair, and thereby being connected with nature. These sensual experiences make our lives intense. I capture these seascapes and other topics of nature and the feelings they evoke with intense colours on canvas. It may be a sense of melancholia, euphoria, wilderness, chaos, or serenity. The paintings reconnect us with nature; firstly with our environment — and thereby motivate us to protect it, and secondly with our own nature; our feelings, our body, our sensuality — with everything that supports us to be ourselves — and therefore to be happy.
